We were delighted to hear from Clyde E. Hunt, trumpeter, cornetist,
teacher, and composer from America whose Great Great Great Grandfather,
Amos Hunt, was a blacksmith who resided in Holbeach c.1800 - 1880.

Donations
Many thanks to the following
for their kind generosity in making donations to the band:
2008 - Bryan Thompson Windows
of 27 Boston Road, Holbeach for the purchase of music stand lights.
2009 - Flashback Charity for
new instruments (2 baritones and 2 tenor horns) for he band's learner
group

Despite extensive advertising through local schools
and the press, our Learn to play week has been less successful than
usual, but there is still time to join our learner sessions.
As a direct result of the week
in 2008 we have 11 new members in our weekly learner group. They
are making good progress and many of them have stayed on to join
the main band and have accompanied us at engagements.
We would like to hear from anyone with information
about the original Holbeach Town Band:
Learners:
We hold group learner classes on a Wednesday evening
from 6.30 to 7.30pm. As learners progress they are encouraged to
stay laetr to join the main band.
In addition, individual lessons are available by arrangement where
we train learners in the ABRSM music grades and theory. Band members
pay reduced rates for these individual lessons.
The learners who started in summer 2008 are making good progress
and many of them have progressed to the main band..

Fundraising:
Thanks to the band's fundraisers Les and Brenda for all their hard
work raising money for the band throughout the year. They arrange
monthly bingo sessions, weekly bric-a-brac stalls and regular
table-top sales. At their Christmas bingo
in December 2009, where the band provided incidental festive music,
they presented the band with a cheque for £3,100 representing
the proceeds of their fundraising during the year.
