HOLBEACH TOWN BAND

Autumn Concert 2001

Report in the Spalding Guardian dated 27 September 2001

Report by Rachel Lefley

Toes were tapping at the latest Holbeach Town Band concert.

Organised by the band committee, the event was well supported with about 60 people going along on the night.

Special guest at the concert, which was at Holbeach Women's Institute Hall, was Heidi Porter, who did two turns singing modern songs and was supported by dancers Lauren Porter and Christine Gregory.

Heidi, who has performed with the band before, finished her show with Unchained Melody.

Press Secretary Sally Huddlestone said: 'The concert went well.  Just after the interval the band played the Stars and Stripes (sic) [actually we played the Star Spangled Banner] as a tribute to the victims of the American terrorist attacks.

'We had one or two guest players at the concert from the Kirton Band as some people have had to drop out due to ill health'

The next Holbeach Town Band concert will be a Christmas concert held on Saturday, December 15, also at the WI Hall.

Mrs Huddlestone added: 'We are hoping to get a junior school choir to join us for that concert.'
