HACCONBY CONCERT

12th June 2004

This concert was the start of our summer season.  We have had a few problems through illness (particularly our principal cornet) and approached the concert with some trepidation; it is the first time we have played at Hacconby (a small village between Bourne and Sleaford) but they have a tradition of promoting concerts in the local church (our Musical Director has played there before with other bands).

We were delighted that our principal cornet made it to the concert, having just come out of hospital, but her lack of stamina understandably was evident.  We were also short of another solo cornet player and most of the horn section.  However the band played well but were tiring towards the end.

Special mention must be made of Natalie, our 2nd Trombonist and vocalist who, again, thrilled the audience singing 'And All That Jazz'.

The audience were the best dressed and most enthusiastic audience we have had for a long time.  All the seats were full.
