Brass and Swing Concert

Extract from The Spalding Guardian, Thursday 8 March 2001:

"Bands combine for concert

Brass and swing combined as two bands came together in harmony to perform in concert.

Spalding Grammar School Big Band and Holbeach Town band joined to present a night of music.

Ticket sales and a raffle raised a total of more than £250 to be split between the two groups.

Holbeach Town band, which began in the mid '70s and has members from seven to 80 years old, will put its share towards buying new instruments.

The Grammar School will put the extra funds into its music department and may use them to help fund a forthcoming trip to Paris.

The groups were brought together for thier first joint concert by their shared musical director Mel Hopkin."
