CHRISTMAS 2003

6th December	Played carols in Holbeach Town centre for two hours.  There did not seem to be  many people around but we had a reasonable collection.  There were not many stalls in the High Street so we played where they would have been.
6th December	Our Christmas concert was performed at the Holbeach Methodist Church.  [See Programme]  There was a very good and enthusiastic audience and the band performed exceptionally,  Our percussionist was unable to attend and we borrowed a local drummer - he played well but had a little difficulty in adjusting to changes in tempo!! The first half was music from our normal repertoire but at half time the band added Christmas decorations and donned Christmas hats and we played a full Christmas programme.
7th December	Played carols in Holbeach Town centre for four hours at the special Christmas Shopping Day.  There were a lot of people and it was a very enjoyable afternoon with plenty of entertainment for the visitors.  We started playing at our usual spot near the crossroads but, later, were asked to move to allow a fire engine to park - the organisers moved us next to the Rotary Club who were playing loud recorded music; so we moved further along the road where we annoyed stall holders but eventually found a decent spot to play.
8th December	We played for about 15 minutes.  The Musical Director presented 'thank you' gifts to the fund-raisers and drew the raffle.
19th December	Played carols at another Bingo night at the WI Hall in Holbeach in support of the Holbeach Town Football Club.
20th December	We had planned to play in the town centre but it was rained off.
21st December	We went to Holbeach Hospital where we played in the Day Rooms
22nd December	We played outside the Tesco store in the evening.
23rd December	We played outside the Tesco store in the evening.
24th December	Christmas Eve and some of the band were able to join  in the carol playing. The Rotary Club were in the centre of town and so we moved to Somerfield where we were well received.

The band is very grateful to everyone who contributed towards the band’s collections over the Christmas period.
