Fundraising:

Thanks to the band's fundraisers Les and Brenda for all their hard work raising money for the band throughout the year. They arrange monthly bingo sessions, weekly bric-a-brac stalls and regular table-top sales. At their Christmas bingo in December 2009, where the band provided incidental festive music, they presented the band with a cheque for £3,100 representing the proceeds of their fundraising during the year.

Latest News:

The Musical Director presented his annual trophy to twins Ruby and Jasmine Latka in recognition of their commitment to the band (rarely missing a practice or concert) and the effort they have both put in to learn to play tenor horn and baritone respectively, in such a short time.

Our programme for 2010 is coming together. See here for the latest information:

Learn to Play in a Week:

27th to 31st July 2009

Despite extensive advertising through local schools and the press, our Learn to play week has been less successful than usual, but there is still time to join our learner sessions.

As a direct result of the week in 2008 we have 11 new members in our weekly learner group. They are making good progress and many of them have stayed on to join the main band and have accompanied us at engagements.

Learners:

We hold group learner classes on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm. As learners progress they are encouraged to stay laetr to join the main band.

In addition, individual lessons are available by arrangement where we train learners in the ABRSM music grades and theory. Band members pay reduced rates for these individual lessons.
