Saturday 7 October 2006 at 7.30pm A BAROQUE MUSICAL FEAST Hazel Brooks (violin) and David Pollock (harpsichord) open our season with a recital of baroque masterpieces, played on a violin of the period and a magnificently decorated harpsichord. These first class musicians present their music with infectious enthusiasm, and their programme includes pieces by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi.
Saturday 18 November 2006 at 7.30pm THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT This is an exceptional opportunity to enjoy high-quality entertaining opera performed by a company renowned for its sparkling productions. Donizetti's tuneful romantic comedy about a battlefield foundling adopted by the grenadiers was revived with Joan Sutherland in the 60s and has been delighting audiences ever since with its combination of dramatic tension and musical verve, not to mention drumming, marching and a hilarious singing lesson scene.
Saturday 27 January 2007 at 7.30pm Daniel de Borah is rapidly making a name for himself as a thoughtful intelligent pianist who impresses with his musicality. Not only has he been selected by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust (who sponsor this concert), but he has won numerous national and international awards and has performed in Europe, Australia and Russia. His programme includes music by Haydn, Chopin and Schumann.
Saturday 3 March 2007 at 7.30pm This exciting brass quintet has a reputation for entertainment,
creativity, and musicianship of a very high standard .In addition to
the brass quintet classics, their enormous and very individual repertoire
includes lively arrangements of early music through to modern, popular
and jazz. The players establish an instant rapport with the audience
by the warmth and humour of their presentation. |
