Metamorphoses

Elizabeth Bass (Harp) and Daniel Shao (Flute)

Elizabeth Bass is one of the leading British harpists of her generation and in 2016 became the first Briton to reach the final of the USA International Harp Competition, going on to win the silver medal.  She has also gained many other awards both nationally and internationally.  She enjoys a successful career as a soloist, chamber musician and as harpist with many leading orchestras at home and abroad.

Daniel Shao graduated from Oxford University and the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction, and since then he has won many competitions (including reaching the wind finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2014) and played with many leading orchestras. He particularly enjoys playing with harp.  Flute and harp make an attractive musical combination, and this very enjoyable programme will include CPE Bach’s Hamburger Sonata and a Fantasy by Saint Sains.

Metamophoses

Jean Johnson (Clarinet), Roeland Jagers (Viola), Ilona Timchenko (Piano)

Metmorphoses is an ensemble of world class musicians from three different countries, all of whom perform individually and in ensembles in some of the world’s prestigious concert halls.  Jean Johnson has an acclaimed musical partnership with Steven Osborne, Roeland jagers is a founding member of the Rubens Quartet, and Ilona Timchenko became the first pianist to perform Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes and Fugues in Italy.  Mozart was the first to compose for this unusual but satisfying instrumental combination, and his Kegelstatt Trio will be included in this varied programme along with pieces by Schumann, Rontgen (like Brahms) and Francaix.
