CHRISTMAS 2012 25th October - Springfields Christmas Lights 15th November - Springfields Santa's arrival
25th October - Springfields Christmas Lights This year we were not the main attraction, but were invited to play carols during the evening. The weather was good. The main attraction was a band from Emmerdale and the switch-on was done by Emmerdale actors. All the action took place at the rear of the shopping outlet while we played in the centre. We were positioned in front of the jewellers shop - it provided good light for the band, but played havoc for potographs!!
15th November - Springfields Santa's arrival As before, we were invited to play carols when Santa arrived at Springfields. Again all the action took place at the rear of the shopping outlet and we did not see Santa arrive (apparently he came in the back way for Health and Safety reasons!). It was fairly quiet, with not too many people around, although they gradually drifted back from seeing Santa. It was not entirely quiet - Springfields provided other street entertainment including Musical Ruth and The Amazing Magical Mobile Piano with (accoring to her website) a totally unique mix and mingle act - it's fun, daft, and side splittingly funny with comedy dance moves, facial contortions, crazy sound effects, many styles of music and hilarious banter. This was fine while we were setting up, and she kept away from us for the first hour, then she returned making a lot of noise and we decided it was time to leave.
