LEARN TO PLAY WITH HOLBEACH TOWN BAND

OPEN DAYS 2023

We have vacancies in the Main Band and the Learner groups.  We hope former players will come to see us and come back to playing.
We had Open Days at the bandroom on Wed 12th April for the Training Band and Main Band and on Sat 15th April for the Starter Group and Learner Group

Music Cafe

Come and have a cuppa and a cake at one of our Music cafes. We now run Cafes 2 or 3 times a year. They have been very successful and well received.
Mum/dad can have a cup of tea while children try out instruments OR children can have a cake while mum/dad tries out the instruments!!

Learner Group
For beginners.  The band hold special training sessions for new learners (of all ages) at the bandroom every Saturday morning. In the Learner Group you will learn how to read music and play an instrument. The band provide the instrument (subject to availability)

From 2002, the Band runs 'Learn to Play in a Week' where, every year, the band teaches absolute beginners the basics of playing a brass instrument. Many of these join our Learner group and continue to improve. In 2023 the Learn to Play Week runs from 31st July to 4th August.  If you are interested please email mel@holbeachtownband.org.uk

Members of the Band also visit local schools and, in the past, have visited The Fun Farm at Weston and the Play Barn at Springfields to demonstrate instruments and encourage people to learn to play.

Music Theory
Since September 2011, Music Theory lessons are held on a Saturday morning from 11.00 to 12.00.  They start at Grade 1 and progress over the year to Grade 5, although they are very flexible depending on the abilities of the students.  Those taking music grades will need Theory of Music Grade 5 to take any Associated Board instrument exams higher than Grade 5.

Individual Lessons
Individual lessons (or shared lessons) are available at the bandroom by arrangement with the Musical Director – at any time by arrangement (including after school or in the evenings).  They can be used to improve playing or work towards music grades.

The band holds regular Open days to attract new members.
