RULES for Learners

Lessons for Learners

We give FREE group music lessons for Learners at 10.00am on Saturday mornings.   We will teach you to play a musical instrument, to read music and to play as part of a group.

Lessons for Improvers

As you improve you will be invited to join the Holbeach Victoria Training Band which is held on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30pm and helps you progress to playing in a band.

Attendance

You MUST attend every lesson (Saturday or Wednesday) unless you are ill or away.

Holbeach Town Band practice is from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Wednesdays - you are welcome to stay.

Instrument

We will let you use a musical instrument (if available) and you may take it home with you.   You must take care of it.   If it becomes damaged or if there is anything wrong with it you must tell someone in the band.   The instrument should be washed in warm soapy water (such as bath water) and then rinsed in clear water.   If we ask for the instrument back you must return it at once - we may ask for the instrument back if you do not come to practices regularly. 

Home practice

It is important to practice at home regularly,  this is the only way you can improve your playing. You should try to play for 10 minutes every day and, twice a week, to spend 30-45 minutes practicing.  

Extra lessons / Music Grades

Individual lessons are available at any time by arrangement with the Musical Director. The cost is £6 per half hour for band members.   These can be used to improve your playing or towards the Associated Board of Music Grades from 1 to 8.
