28th November - Spalding Lights turn-on

We were invited to take part in the weekend celebrations for turning on Spalding's Christmas lights. The organisers, Tulip Radio, arranged various activities starting on the Friday afternoon. We were asked to play from 4.00 to 6.00pm. This caused some intial concerns due to work and school commitments of our members. In the end we put together a balanced band of 15 players.

We played for two hours in the Market Place, Spalding, outside the South Holland Centre. Unfortunately, there were very few people around - most of them were congregated in Hall PLace, where a schools' choir competition was taking place!

30th November - Christmas Concert at Donington Christmas Fayre

We were delighted to be invited to play at the Donington Christmas Fayre which took place at the Thomas Cowley School. We played on the stage with a very good audience.

We played two three-quarter hour sets of Christmas concert pieces. Between the sets we had to completely clear the stage for a dance troup!

6th December - Carols at Sainsbury

A pleasant Saturday morning outside Sainsbury Supermarket in Spalding.

7th December - Carols at St Nicholas Fayre, Holbeach

We have taken pasrt in the Holbeach Christmas Fayre for many years, but this year the organising committee disintigrated and the Fayre did not go ahead.

Fortunately the Holbeach Scouts and the Holbeach Church got together and came up with the St Nicholas Fayre. It was a two-day event based at the Church. We were asked to take part again which we were pleased to do.

On the Sunday, activities were taking place outside the Church. We were the last entertainers before a Christingle Service in Church. Unfortunately, it was cold with a touch of drizzle. We had a tent to stand under, while most of the spectators went into the church!

12th December - Carols at Bingo

The Bband supported its fund-raisers Brian and Diane Parker at the Christmas Bingo. The monthluy bingo sessions raise significant funds for the band.

We played some carols and Christmas songs to a very enthusiastic group of bingo-players who insisted on encores rather than getting back to playing bingo!

13th December - Carols at Tesco

Pleasant carol-playing in the foyer of Tescos supermarket in Holbeach. Lots of nice comments from the shoppers.

13th December - Concert at All Saints Church, Moulton

An enjoyable concert in our local Church. We played a mix of concert pieces and carols.

We had a good turnout and it was nice to see former principal cornet Steven Butter back from University. We had a number of key plyers absent but we are now strong enough to put out a good band.

17th December - Carols at Masonic Lodge, Spalding

We made our annual visit to the Masonic Hall in Spalding to play a few carols for the Welland Lodge following their monthly meeting. We were well received as always.

19th December - Concert at St Mary and Holy Rood Church, Donington

Our best concert of this Christmas. Well played by the band to a full Church. We plannd a mix of Christmas Music and Carols and the organisers asked us to include some bible readings.

Unfortunately, the church was cold! The Band were allowed to keep their outdoor coats on for the second half.

Nice comments from the organiser: "Many thanks for last night it was a lovely evening.  I have already had calls thanking us for putting on such a good evening which was entirely because of the playing of the band."
