25th October - Springfields lights

We played at Springfields Shopping Outlet on this Thursday evening before their Christmas lights were switched on by Martin Kemp.

Unfortunately we were not named on the Springfields poster as they only asked us a few days before the publicity went out and we didn't have time to confirm our attendance.

It was an exceptionally wet day and there was a lot of standing water. We shared a gazebo behind the stage with the St Paul’s School Choir - there was not a lot of room!  So many of us set up outside the gazebo, in the wet;  there were no lights outside so it got interesting trying to pack up at the end.

Getting on the stage was fun.  We had a reduced band, but that was fine in view of the size of the stage!.

6th December - Concert at Tydd St Mary Church

A return visit to St Mary's Church in Tydd St Mary. They made us very welcome as always, and the choice of home-made soups at the half-time interval was amazing plus hot dogs.

We played a mixture of concert pieces and carols, with the audience singing along to the carols. The audience size increases with each year we go.

It's a small church and the area we had to play in is usually very tight. Fortuantely the Church removed the front row of pews to give extra space and we had fewer players than last year.

We decided this year to abandon our normal uniform and we wore seasonal jumpers instead - useful in a cold church!

7th December (morning) - Carols at Tescos

We are carol playing again this year with pre-selected groups of approx 10 players.

Our first visit is to Tesco in Holbeach who always make us very welcome. We play in the covered entrance so it was very pleasant

7th December (afternoon) - Carols at Crowland Abbey

A group made a return visit to Crowland for their St Nicholas Fair. We played in the chancel/

7th December (afternoon) - Band Fundraising Bingo

The Band's fund-raising Bingo sessions are held once a month (usually on the 2nd Friday). They are run by band members who provide refreshments during the half-time break. At the December session a group from the band goes along and plays carols during the break.

13th December - Concert at St Paul's Church, Fulney

A return visit to St Paul's Church Fulney. It was a very enjoyable concert. Excellent playing by the full band, with a full church.

14th December - Carols at Sainsbury, Spalding

A group from the Band played carols at Sainsburys in Spalding. It was a cold day but the band were able to play in the entrance porch which gave some protection. We also used garden chairs for most of the group which proved successful.

21st December - Carols at Caffe Aurora, Holbeach

A pleasant morning playing carols in the street outside Caffe Aurora. It was fairly quiet but we had a constant stream of shoppers passing by. Unfortunately most of our collectors went to Tescos where we were also playing, so our collection was rather reduced.

21st December - Carols at Tescos, Holbeach

Back at Tescos for the second time this year.

21st December (evening) Concert at Whaplode Drove

Following our successful Last Night of the Proms in September, we were invited back to the Elizabethan Centre for a Christmas Concert. There was a good enthusiastic audience and a really enjoyable evening.

24th December - Carols at Tescos, Holbeach

Back at Tescos for the final carol-playing of the year.
