Spring 2007

2 March - Rotary Club

10 March - Holbeach Community Centre

10 June - Springfields Retail Outlet

17 June - Holbeach Vintage Rally

2 March - Rotary Club
The President of the Royal British Legion Band (Lincolnshire) has been elected President of the local Rotary Club, and a few of their players and a couple of ours, played for a sing-along at his reception.

10 March - Holbeach Community Centre

Our first concert of the year was organised by the Holbeach Community Centre to raise funds for an air-conditioning system at the Centre. We had some help from colleagues in the Royal British Legion Band (Lincolnshire) and from Kirton Brass Band to whom we are very garteful. Although the bottom end of the band was a bit weak and outnumbered by the top end, the sound was remarkably good - helped, no doubt, by the excellent accoustics. The audience was disappointing in number, but those who attended enjoyed a high quality concert.

Highlights included All in the April Evening played with great feeling, Mack the Knife which really went with a swing and I Don't Know How to Love Him beautifully played by 14 year old Steven. Four of the pieces were successful additions to our repertoire - Pour un Flirt, Army of the Nile, Mack the Knife and Young Amadeus.

10 June - Springfields Retail Outlet

We played at the Springfields Retail Outlet, Spalding on Sunday afternoon 10th June. It was a lovely afternoon with a very receptive audience. We were pleased to play Happy Birthday to 1 year old Alfie at the request of his grandfather. We will be returning in July. We had a reasonable sized band for the occasion and, although there were a couple of slips the band played well. Solo items were ably played by Steven Butter (cornet) and Dennis Skinner (flugel horn).

17 June - Holbeach Vintage Rally

On a very wet weekend, we played at the Holbeach Vintage Rally. We had a small band but it went well. It had rained heavily in the days leading up to the event, so the ground was very wet and vehicles had some problems.

The vintage rally was founded in 1995 and features parades of vintage motorcycles, classic cars, vintage and modern tracors and steam engines.
