15 June - Holbeach Vintage Rally

We had a good band turn out for the annual Vinrtage Rally at Holbeach. This year's venue was out of town, but was an improvement on the previous venue - it was a larger site and better laid out. But why did they put us in the far corner!?

Although we were very much out of sight, with little passing trade, it was a good afternoon. We played three 30 minute sessions. The weather was kind - sunshine and cloud with the occasional hint of drizzle..

The vintage rally was founded in 1995 and features parades of vintage motorcycles, classic cars, vintage and modern tracors and steam engines.

5 July - Normandy Veterans Rally, Holbeach

We had a good turnout for the annual Normandy Veterans Rally held at the Anglia Motel, Holbeach. We played on the back of a covered trailer.

We palyed incidental music for 20 minutes before playing hymns at a Thanksgiving Service. Steven Butter played Last Post and Reveeille.

There were two low-level fly pasts by two RAF Tornados which passed directly above the band's trailer so we didn't see very much!

After a break we played more incidental music. We finished at 3.15pm when a parade of vintage vehicled and tractors started.

12 July - Coffee Morning

We held a coffee morning to introduce the band's Learn to Play Week and training opportunities. The Musical Director, with half a dozen band members, was on hand to give demonstrations of brass playing, to answer questions about the training sessions and to enrol potential learners for the Learn to Play Week.

Plenty of coffee was drunk (and chocolate biscuits eaten) and the band members had an enjoyable time, and took the opportunity to have an informal rehearsal between visitors.

19 July - Gedney Dawsmere

We had a very pleasant afternoon playing incidental music at The Old Vicarage Residential Home in Chhurch Street Gedney Dawsmere. We had the best turn-out for a weekend for a long while (we often have difficulties due to work commitments) - with a particularly impessive array of cornets. We had a little rain just as we were about to start, but then it was mainly sunny.
